Jet In Time — Airport departure timing: check-in and | jetintime.com
A count-back procedure that turns a departure time into a leaving-home time, one subtraction at a time.
The procedure starts at pushback and walks backwards. Departure at 19:40; the airline's bag-drop cutoff is 60 minutes, so the suitcase deadline is 18:40. That single subtraction is the anchor for everything else.
Next subtract security: 30 minutes for a standard lane at peak, 10 for PreCheck, which puts the latest arrival at the back of the queue at 18:10. Then subtract the terminal walk and small queues — 15 to 20 minutes — giving a latest comfortable terminal arrival of about 17:50.
On narrow screens, swipe or scroll the plate sideways.
Now check the arithmetic against the guidance: three hours before a 19:40 international departure is 16:40, comfortably earlier than 17:50. When the count-back and the guidance disagree, take the earlier time; the guidance exists for the days when two queues run long at once.
The final subtraction happens at home: door-to-terminal travel time, plus parking or drop-off. A 45-minute drive against a 16:40 terminal target means leaving at 15:50 — the count-back has converted a vague 'leave early' into a specific minute.
Each stage has a named failure: the bag-drop shutout, the queue overrun, the gate-close sprint. The deadlines each failure trips over are listed in Airport Deadlines by Flight Type, and the queue numbers come from How Long Security Screening Takes; this page is where they become a schedule.
